Featuring an homage to the retiring cartoonist by Sergio Aragones and other treats…
Al Jaffee, one of Mad Magazine’s greatest cartoonists ever, is a lusty 99 years old and is finally retiring. So the satirical mag is dedicating Mad #14 to the man who holds the world record for longest career as a comics artist. (73 years and 3 months, according to Guinness.)
The issue — which features Mad’s vintage logo, by the way — is jammed with classic Jaffee strips, as well as tributes by the Usual Gang of Idiots, including the great Sergio Aragones.
And get this: The ish also features Jaffee’s final, never-published fold-in — which was saved for after his retirement. (We don’t want to spoil it for you.)
Dig the table of contents:
Cool, right?
But wait there’s more! Here are three of the issue’s features, including Aragones’ tribute; Jaffee’s first-ever Snappy Answers to Stupid Questions; and one of artist’s classic gadget strips.
Mad #14 is out June 10, from DC.

What an incredibly “maddening” tribute to Mr. Jaffee. 🙂

This is a must-have. For a second when I saw the link, I thought, “Oh, no! Did Al Jaffee die??” So glad to see it’s a tribute to a true living legend!
